Asian King Kong-Dragon Teeth

Researchers have successfully extracted protein from a roughly 1.9-million-year-old tooth of an ancient Asian ape called Gigantopithecus blacki.

The study, published in the journal Nature, revealed molecular clues of the giant ape’s evolutionary roots.

The findings show that Gigantopithecus and orangutans diverged from a common ancestor between 10 million and 12 million years ago.
