·         Pundarika        White Lotus (Nelumbo nucifera)  - RV. X. 142, 8

·         Pushkara         Blue Lotus (Nymphaea caerulea) - RV. VI. 16, 13;VII.33,11

 

 

 

Trees are very important for locating a text. All the aquatic plants mentioned above are located on the Indian sub-continent. Their appearance in the Rig Veda granted them sanctity in later Hindus.
